Review show:

Review show based on looking at the most current and popular FIlms. The but comparing them to other similar Films, comparing the actors to what they've been in before and going of previous work of the actors what to expect from them, will it be good? is it over rated? the problem with this is its biased opinions. but i think it would be interesting to have a debate between two people with different opinions. a segment of the show could be a minute rant/argument between a fan of a show and someone who dislikes the show. Viewers would enjoy this, everyone loves watching an argument. 

An Example of an Argument is When Kate Hopkins Went onto this morning and had a rant about "baby names" she was saying she judges her childr's friends based off their names. However another woman was arguing back that you cant judge your children's friends, especially because of their names that they didn't even choose themselves.


My target audience would be people aged 12+ mainly because im not doing films rated PG or under, its 12 rated films and over. This is so it can be a fairly serious show and i dont think the attention of kids could be kept through my show, so i think my audience has to be fairly old, at least teenagers.

Constraints could be there may not be good enough films out, but on the other hand if i do films released in the last 6 month there will at least be 5 good films out, other constraints is i need non biased people to do my review, i cant have someone doing a review on the wolf of wall street when they think they're Leonardo DiCaprios' biggest fan. i need neutral opinions off non biased candidates.  

Guests consist off 3 people, one to present the show, 2 two debate and then the presenter can add opinions also. i think this will add a good balance and give enough opinions and relevant information out.

My VT will be clips from each movie, possibly just the trailer from each film and a break down of each film, 1:50-2:50 minutes of discussion for each film this will make it fluent and not too long winded. 

Unit 23 assignment 1

A multi camera set up or, multi camera production means there is more than one camera used throughout the production. essentially because it gives a more fluent flow to the program, for example, if football was one fixed camera that panned left to right it wouldn't be near as entertaining to watch, instead we see it from all different angles and coverage, that brings flow and entertainment. The same can be said for talk shows, game shows and the news.

A single camera production means one camera is used, this is more common in films and productions that don't require as much coverage, also things that arent live recorded, soap opera and films are good example. The single camera can easily be moved and adjusted.

These sorts of programs are all single camera:

Coronation street - built in a set studio to replicate real life surroundings

Eastenders - single camera production, filmed in and around a replica street, not a studio but its a replica street built in private grounds

Bear Grills: Born Survivor - Live recordings following one man, using one camera.

Breaking Bad - Uses multiple real life destinations as the sets but once again, single camera.

NCIS - Uses multiple real life destinations as the sets.

Pros: 

• Gives more flow to a production
• Shows more insight to the production by giving us reactions of people on the spot etc
• Modern day live events such as sport wouldnt be entertaining at all if caputred with one camera
• Time Saving

Cons:

• The aesthetic quality isnt as upto scratch as a single camera production
•  Costly
• Lighting change from different angle thus giving a different picture, most studios have lighting set up though. 

This Program is celebrity juice, one of the biggest pannel shows in britain. This is a multi camera production, this program would NEED to be a multi camera production, if it wasnt it would literally be one camera facing a panel of 6 people and wouldnt move. it would pan left to right, up and down at most. it wouldnt give us the coverage and reactions of the contestants and the audience reactions also.

The program above is the news. This is also a multi camera set up, again its essential that this would need to be multi cam. the news have different presenters for different subjects, i.e Sport, weather and general news etc. The reason this is multi camera is so they can chop and change as quick as possible and once again make the show run more fluently. If it was a single camera we would see the camera man walking over to the weather green screen for example, then back to the news table. Instead we get quick changing commands and a easy running view of whats going on. 

Football is a multi camera production, as are most if not every other sport. If football was a single camera production we would see one camera panning left to right, leaving us bored and probably quite noxious. Instead we get numerous views and aspects of the game from when players pass to when players score and run to the fans etc, we see all that head on thanks the the fact football is presented as a multi camera production.

Mock of the week, presented by Dara O'Brein, another news/panel show that involves the contestants walking around, again, if that wasnt done multi cam we would just get simple pans and possibly the cheeky track here and there. instead we have quick chopping and cutting to peoples reactions and actions. For example, Frankie Boyle could make a joke about Dara, We would get a straight away cut to Daras' face to see his reaction, small things like that can make a program what it is. IF it was single camera the joke would be dead by the time the camera got to Daras' reaction. 

Out of the 4 programs above i feel that the football and mock of the week make the better use of the multi camera set up to show their audience the best possible footage. With football i feel its absolutely 150% necessary, the camera work on football is amazing, showing all the best angles and coverage. Also football is probably the most viewed out of all the programs, However mock of the week also makes good use of its set up. The fact its a comedy show means jokes are thrown around and offences are just flung around at people so reactions are precious to this show. The news have different presenters for different categories of news. The news also uses their cameras in the same style of mock of the week and even celebrity juice, they're all in a studio and need to chop and change from different people for different reactions or in the news' case, stories. Overall id still say football needs the multi cam set up more and uses it more efficiently.

Mini focus group

Narrative:

When i asked people for their opinion on the narrative the responses i got were "Funny, Good, Easy to understand and relatable"

Design:

People said the design was "Beautifully designed"

Colour:
My mini focus group described my use of colour as vibrant and mood setting

Set:

When asked about the opinions on my set people said "Good, Cool, Creative and realistic"

Improvements:

I asked for improvements but people didn't give me any, i personally feel i need to change the music. But no specific improvements were given to me

Audience:

My audience is kids, 3-11? My target audience is achieved. 

Personal Opinion

I set out to make a dinosaur fight scene, however i needed a cause for the fight so i made it into a yoghurt promotion/advert kind of thing. Personally id say i delivered my goal. 
I wanted to achieve a sense of humour and to make a quirky animation, mainly to direct and aim more at my target audience which was younger children that are obviously like yoghurts. PERSONALLY id say i achieved that, my animation uses childish features such as the quirky sound effects and the mumbling of dinosaurs and the cartoony noises when dinosaurs are thrown about etc. Although it involves violence its not harsh violence that might not appeal to kids, its very mellow and easy going violence, a dinosaur hitting another dinosaur away with its tail isn't ever going to effect a child. SO although it includes light violence id still say it appeals to kids. My favourite part of the animation was the Main dinosaur, it took me a while to make but i enjoyed making it and using it in my stop motion, i made it so i could maximise movement by giving it a bendy tail, bendy stubby arms etc. I also enjoyed my set, it was hard to recreate a desert but id say i did a decent enough job. I also liked the pan of the dinosaurs when they are in a face off and the focus changes from dinosaur to dinosaur, it took a while to get it like that but i'm proud of the outcome! Overall i don't see many weaknesses, however, i feel the "yoghurt" could of been more realistic or a better model? But i had to do what i could with what materials i had. 
Sound wasn't an issue, apart from the backing track. I wanted to find a upbeat cheery song that was inviting for the audience, i had an original backing track but i felt it was too dark and miserable for a children's advert. So i changed it to an upbeat song sampled from the movie 'Dinosaurs'. I feel this track worked much better. The muttering of the dinosaurs is actually my own recording, i wanted cartoony and quirky sounds to come from my dinosaur, If i'm honest the Mr. Bean sounds and speech were the inspiration that i based my sounds off. Then as for the impact sounds they were simply taken from youtube and converted! To me i think that the noise when the dinosaur is flung and hits the ground is my favourite part of sound. I think thats where the most laughs were given. Also i just think if that sound wasn't there the edit and the animation would just feel bland and basic. 

Screening Review: 

I previewed my stop motion in college on the open day to parents, the questions i asked the parents were:

What did you think about the storyline?
What did you think about the character design?
what did you think about the colours/drawing?
what did you think about the set?
What bits do you think could have been better?
My target audience was.... do you think it targets them?

My storyline got allot of similar answers, mainly stating that it was "easy to understand, easy to follow and enjoyable". people said it was obvious they were fighting over the "yoghurt" and the winner was clearly shown etc, to here that made me pretty chuffed with it all, knowing people got the gist of it and what was happening tells me my stop motion was pretty successful! My character design got mixed reactions, non negative, but people were shocked when i showed them the set i used and my characters, people thought they were so small, i think people expected them to be around 7 inches? but when they saw the models were about 3 inches tall and the set was built into a cardboard box they were astonished! people liked the mix of greens on the dinosaur and the realistic colours used.  People didn't really give any negative criticism but i think thats because people aren't going to be brutal on you are they? However, one parent did say that it was possibly too short? that they were enjoying it and it came to end too quick? which i suppose is a fair point, it was only 37 seconds but how long can you really drag out clay dinosaurs fighting over a yoghurt? My target audience was children. Parents loved this. they said they're younger kids would love this and common answers  were really blunt but answers were "Definitely" One word answers dont give much away but atleast people agreed with my target audience!

I personally found the screening useful, talking to older people and explaining my work to them made things easier. i'd rather talk to adults that are willing to listen and understand what im trying to tell them instead of kids that are half listening and dont care, i find parents do care because they've come to look intentionally? However i feel they have to be nice to you but non the less its the results i got and the results i got i happilly accept.
