- Sound Designer - In charge of everything, in charge of all these job roles.
- Sound Recordist - Records sound during production
- Sound Mixer - Mixes (Balances) sound during post production.
- Foley Artist - Mimics/Recreates sounds that are happening on screen.
- Composer/Score Writer - Person that comes up with music.
What do we record?
- Dialogue - Individuals, Groups
- Real world action
- Background/Atmosphere - Animate (sound that moves, i.e a car moving) , Inanimate (Something that doesn't move, i.e a knock on the door)
- SFX (Sound effects) - Foley, Real world
- Sync Sound - MUST be in time with video so that we can understand it.
- Non sync - Don't NEED to be in sync to make sense.
- Sound Mixing - Balancing all your sounds.
- Wildtrack - A Recording of ambient sound (background sound)
Where you record is important, it's called your "Environment". How do we control what we record
Shutting out sound.
- Choose the correct microphone - Lavier (clip mic) - Shotgun mic. Omni directional.
- Mic position - Has to be above and has to be pointing down to pick up the best sound possible
In the studio
- Perfect acoustics
- Sound control
- Additional sound recordings
- Foley sound recordings
Mixers. Recorders and Monitoring
- Mixers do not record.
- Mic > XLR Cable > Mixer > Recording Camera
